Products you should not eat before weight training

Physical activity is only one component that affects the development of an aesthetic figure. A balanced diet is also crucial. It is not only important how much we eat, but also what we eat and when. An issue that is very often overlooked is the consumption of certain products before training. Meanwhile, there is a group that should not be implemented into the menu as a pre-workout meal. What does it include? What shouldn’t you eat before training?

Yogurts

It seems that yogurt is a light and filling product which is perfect as a pre-workout meal. However, the reality is quite different. Dairy products can lead to nausea and muscle cramps. So if you can’t imagine your morning without a delicious smoothie, replace yogurt with kefir. Researchers at Ohio University have proven that kefir improves the digestive processes of lactose and helps the digestive system to function better.

Flaxseed

Flaxseed is one of the products that are also found in smoothies, which of course you should leave out. Flaxseed is extremely healthy, but it contains a lot of fiber. It should be noted here that this is an ingredient that is difficult to digest, while in excessive amounts it causes bloating, and stomach revolutions are certainly not something pleasant on a daily basis, not to mention running or playing other sports.

Eggs

Eggs are a very good source of protein, which is perfectly absorbed by the human body. However, they do not provide carbohydrates, which are essential fuel for muscles. Moreover, proteins take much longer to digest than carbs. Additionally, eggs are fatty, and combining fat with protein right before a workout unit will certainly not make your workout go smoothly. A better idea to start your day would be oatmeal, which is an energy-boosting meal that won’t make you feel heavy.

Broccoli

Broccoli is a vegetable that belongs to the group of those with the highest vitamin and fiber content. Unfortunately, this information will surely make all followers of the green florets sad. However, if you want to get the best results from your workout, you should definitely avoid vegetables with a high fibre content. You probably don’t want to feel your digestive system working at top speed during exercise. Apart from broccoli, we should also give up cauliflower before training.

Avocado

Avocado has recently become more and more used in various dishes and is found on our tables. This fruit is added, among others, to smoothies or preparation of appetizers. Avocado is very healthy and well absorbed by the body, however, it is not good for it if eaten just before the workout. The reason for this is that the high fat content takes a long time to digest, which slows down our movements. It is definitely better to eat avocado after training.

Pistachios

Pistachios are completely unsuitable for a pre-workout meal. In 2014, the results of a study came out in which volunteers were subjected to an aerobic capacity assessment. Part of the subjects ate pistachios before training, the other did not consume them. It turned out that the second group performed much better in the aerobic capacity test. If you want to munch something before the workout, you can replace pistachios with carrots.

Fresh orange juice

It seems that fresh orange juice should be beneficial for the body because it contains large amounts of vitamins and minerals, but it is quite different. It is not recommended to consume freshly squeezed juice before exercising because it contains large amounts of sugar. Although you may feel a surge of energy at first, you will feel drained soon afterwards.
